  • The Queen is Dead
Play The Queen is DeadThe Queen is Dead
This is a tune I wrote and recorded in my home studio for the documentary film "it/ll be better tomorrow' the life and work of Hubert Selby Jr.
  • Station Wagon
    Play Station WagonStation Wagon
This a recording from about 1989. The band is Obrador and it was recorded live from Bruce Whitcombs mobile unit. Great Tom Russell baritone solo and Michael Moore rippin' it up on the Hammond. (w/ Leslie)
  • Station Wagon 2009
Play Station Wagon 2009Station Wagon 2009
This latest recording of "Station Wagon" comes to you courtesy of Sour Owl. Please feel free to compare and contrast this version with the recording by Obrador. Lyrics by Lynn Henson w/ vocals by Lynn and Skyler Blake. And by the most wonderful of all coincidences, we still have Tom Russell on the Selmer Mark VI Baritone saxophone.
  • Smoove
    Play SmooveSmoove
Smoove is a dangerous foray to the edges of smooth jazz. I co-wrote this with my old friend, guitarist Russ Rasmussen. It started out somewhat tongue-in-cheek and actually ended up pretty funky.
  • Slice of Life
Play Slice of LifeSlice of Life
This song and I go way back. I first played it and met the composer/vocalist Tony Harper when I started playing with "The Groove" in 1995. This recording is a Harper/Munger arrangement from 1999 and features Emmanuel Del Casal on bass, Michael "Smitty" Smith on guitar and Steve Bentley on drums. It was also recorded again with "Mother's Friends" in 2001. I guess we really like this tune.
  • Susan in Goldendale
Play Susan in GoldendaleSusan in Goldendale

Another song written for the Hubert Selby Jr. project. It was not used in the final cut of the documentary, but I want to take this opportunity to thank the great musicians who participated in this project, (pro bono I might add) and who I am lucky enough to call my friends. Andy Omdahl on the muted trumpet, Drew Gibbs on the keyboards, Rick Jarvela on the bass and Steve Bentley on drums. Our engineer was Bruce Whitcomb and we recorded at the wonderful Red Arrow Records studio.

Time with Susan, in Goldendale, got me through the hardest time in my life. It will be with me always!

  • Knifadactyl
    Play KnifadactylKnifadactyl
When the Owl brings you the Knifodactyl, you know your mezzriola has burnt on down! This Lynne Henson composition features Rasta Dave Hopper on bass with a little Mooger/Flooger added for some spice and yours truly on the tenor saxadactyl.
  • I Can Feel Ya'
Play I Can Feel Ya'I Can Feel Ya'
I Can Feel Ya is a Sour Owl original featuring Skyler Blake on vocals. Tom Russell is also spotlighted on soprano saxophone. Knifadactyl and I can Feel Ya were both recorded and mixed at Pacific Studios in Tacoma. Mark Simmons was our engineer and sage advice provider.
